Drawing on the imaginary world of the American freak show, Philippe Wicht questions the notion of difference through collective processes. How can exposing and embodying in common our own “otherness” create an intimate feeling of emancipation, unity and solidarity? The whole project is organically composed according to the people and places encountered during the process of creation, gathering over time a constellation of beings with multiple expressions and contours.

witch is a manifesto about amusement. i asked myself what kind of art I would like to defend. the answer was simple: an art that amuses us, that makes us feel alive. this mask was in my attic. witch was born. in the performance, the witch appears, laughs, plays with the audience and disappears. abracadabra!

During the pandemic, I loved seeing the cities empty. it reminded me of haunted houses and foggy Venice. That's what I tried to recreate: a romantic atmosphere with a carnival ghost lurking in it. Both I and the audience are lost in this eerie universe, searching for something familiar to grasp onto. Inspired by the paintings of William Turner and the poetry of William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Twilight Splendor was composed during a six-month residency in Brussels, generously granted by the City of Biel/Bienne.

OUTSIDE EYE: Lauren Huret Administration: Minuitpile
Co-production: Böse Wicht Zone / Belluard Bollwerk SUPPORT: Ville de Bienne

In this film/performance, I delve into the prehistory of the body. from micro-organisms to alien morphologies. from fragments of martian meteorites to giant insects. I am reactivating what’s anonymous, unknown & non human in our materiality. The concept is inspired by philosopher Dylan Trigg's discourse in his book "The Thing:
A Horror Phenomenology.

This performance is inspired by the mythology of mystic healers. people can whisper their hopes and fears in my ear. For three hours, I focus on these personal stories. I wear white contact lenses that prevent me from seeing anything. I bring love, compassion and empathy. Tell me what makes you suffer, and I will try to help.

For this performance, I curated a collection of unsettling images from Google. I used them to create a series of short horror films with soundtracks. From the atmosphere of this material, I crafted the Böse Wicht figure (literally "bad thing"), a musical evil twin. Two monsters are accompanying me.

(2011 - 60’)

ARTISTIC COLLABORATION: Delphine Abrecht, Christophe Jaquet
Production: Les Urbaines

In this performance, I invite the audience to reenact my prom because the original one was terrible. I was laughed at, and in a fit of anger, I killed everyone. I would like to create a good memory of it now. The event includes refreshments, music and entertainment. However, the party takes a dark turn, and things start to go wrong again.
